Over the last two decades, we’ve seen some of the league’s top players put up incredible scoring efforts. The NBA’s paradigm change in recent years has favored free-flowing offense to the point where the league’s finest scorers can get points without having to worry too much about defensive resistance. Fortunately for aficionados of defensive tactics, new regulations implemented this season have improved the way defenders prepare.
However, there is a superb offensive player in every NBA club who ranks #1 all-time in total points scored. We compiled the all-time points leader for each NBA team based on total points to see which player has the most legendary status as an offensive player. While certain names are likely to be predicted, several NBA teams may be surprised.
Dominique Wilkins, Atlanta Hawks Points: 23,292
Bob Pettit came in second with 20,880 points.
Dominique Wilkins comes to mind when you think of the Atlanta Hawks. That is very unique in the NBA, because players move around often and seldom have the same influence on a team as Dominique had. During his stint in the league, Wilkins was a spectacular scorer and athlete who was possibly the most interesting player in the league. The second is Hall of Famer Bob Pettit, who is regarded as one of the greatest big men of all time.
John Havlicek has 26,395 points with the Boston Celtics.
Paul Pierce came in second. Points: 24,021
Havlicek’s scoring talent was genuinely outstanding, as he is one of the finest to ever wear the Boston Celtics jersey. He was a 13-time All-Star and a Finals MVP winner. With eight NBA championships and one Finals MVP, he is considered a legend, but his offensive game was his greatest strength. Second is Paul Pierce, the 2008 Finals MVP and one of the finest mid-range scorers in NBA history.
Brook Lopez, Brooklyn Nets Points: 10,444
Buck Williams finished in second place with 10,440 points.
Brook Lopez’s inclusion as the franchise’s best scorer may come as a surprise, but the center was a highly good low-post scorer in his peak. Lopez was a credible 20 PPG scorer each season when he was restricted to a three-point spacer at this time in his career. Buck Williams, a 6’8″ power forward of the New Jersey Nets, is the second player on the list.
Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets Points: 12,009

LeBron James is the greatest athlete in Cleveland sports history, and the guy who accomplished the unimaginable by leading the Cavaliers to an NBA title. The King is known for being a pass-first player, yet he still managed to score over 23k points with the Cavaliers and is on the verge of passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leading scorer. Second, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, a two-time All-Star who played 12 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, is a former teammate of LeBron’s.
Dirk Nowitzki has 31,560 points with the Dallas Mavericks.
Rolando Blackman came in second. Points: 16,643
When people think of the Dallas Mavericks, they think of Dirk Nowitzki, much as they think of LeBron James or Michael Jordan. The unstoppable German is recognized as one of the finest five power forwards in NBA history, having led Dallas to the coveted NBA championship in 2011. Dirk amassed almost 31k points in a timely manner, thanks to his one-legged fadeaway. He’s also one of the best three-point shooters of all time, hitting 38.0 percent of his threes throughout his career. The second is Rolando Blackman, a four-time All-Star with the Mavericks who averaged 19.2 points per game.
Alex English has 21,645 points with the Denver Nuggets.
Dan Issel came in second. Points: 16,589
Carmelo Anthony is not the best scorer in the history of the Denver Nuggets. Alex English, a Hall of Famer who played with the Nuggets from 1980 to 1990, is the recipient of this accolade. English may be the most legendary player to ever play for the Nuggets, averaging 25.9 points per game during those years. Dan Issel, a 6’9″ center who averaged 20.7 points per game with the Nuggets, comes in second. Carmelo Anthony is in third place with “just” 13,970 points, considerably behind Issel and the legendary Alex English.
Isiah Thomas has 18,822 points with the Detroit Pistons.
Joe Dumars (16,401 points) came in second.
The fact that Hall of Famers Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars are the two best scorers in Pistons history is only appropriate. Thomas and Dumars won two NBA championships together, and each guard was named Finals MVP. Thomas had a tiny advantage over Dumars in total points since he was a somewhat superior offensive player who earned his life attacking the basket and shooting from the mid-range. Dumars was also a great scorer, averaging 16.1 points per game during his time with the Pistons.
Stephen Curry has scored 19,321 points for the Golden State Warriors.
Wilt Chamberlain came in second. Points: 17,783
Stephen Curry, the best 3-point shooter in NBA history, has plenty of time to extend his lead over legendary center Wilt Chamberlain as the greatest Warriors scorer of all time. The point guard lacked Wilt’s physical domination for six seasons, but he was unquestionably better at generating offense and shooting. Steph has already established himself as one of the best point guards of all time, and he accomplished it his way. Wilt is second with almost 17k points in his first six seasons, including seasons of 50.4 points per game, 44.8 points per game, and 38.4 points per game, which no one will ever match.
Hakeem Olajuwon has 26,511 points with the Houston Rockets.
James Harden came in second. Points: 18,365
Hakeem Olajuwon, a two-time NBA champion and two-time Finals MVP who dominated the game after Michael Jordan retired, has a special place in the hearts of Rockets fans. On the attacking end, “The Dream” had it everything, from low-post talents to a mid-range jumper. Olajuwon is without a doubt one of the best centers in history, and that will never change. Second is former Rocket James Harden, a shooting guard who averaged 30.4 points per game, 36.1 points per game, and 34.3 points per game in three consecutive seasons, resulting in three scoring crowns for The Beard.
Reggie Miller, Indiana Pacers Points: 25,279
Rik Smits came in second with 12,871 points.
When considering the Indiana Pacers’ history, it’s difficult to imagine anybody other than Reggie Miller. Reggie tops all Pacers players in points scored. He is an all-time great clutch shooter with an automatic three-point jumper. Reggie has averaged 18.2 points per game while playing his whole career at Indiana, shooting 39.5 percent from beyond the arc. Rik Smits, a 7’4″ power forward from the Netherlands, also spent his whole career with the Pacers, averaging 14.8 points per game.
Randy Smith, Los Angeles Clippers Points: 12,735
Blake Griffin (10,863 points) is in second position.
Randy Smith was a two-time All-Star with the Buffalo Braves, averaging 17.6 points per game during seven seasons with the Braves and two seasons with the San Diego Clippers. The 6’3″ guard never had a three-point shot, but he was good at creating his own and had four seasons in which he averaged over 20 points per game. Smith was the Braves and Clippers franchise’s go-to source throughout the 1970s. Blake Griffin, one of the most famous dunkers of all time, is in second place. Griffin began his career with a bang and is now the second-greatest Clippers scorer of all time, behind only Smith.
Kobe Bryant has 33,643 points with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Jerry West came in second with 25,192 points.
Kobe Bryant is without a doubt the best scorer for the Los Angeles Lakers. During his time with the Purple and Gold, the Black Mamba averaged 25.0 points per game and did it in spectacular fashion. Bryant could easily construct his own shot and used a variety of counter-moves to fool opponents and score. Kobe Bryant, outside from Michael Jordan, may be the most unstoppable perimeter player ever. Jerry West, the NBA’s logo, is the second. West was a productive scorer and shooter with the Lakers, averaging 27.0 points per game over the course of his career.
Mike Conley, Memphis Grizzlies Points: 11,733
Marc Gasol (11,684 points) is in second position.
When Mike Conley and Marc Gasol paired up in Memphis, they had a terrific team. The Memphis Grizzlies franchise never had the number of superstar offensive abilities that other organizations had, but they did have a great squad. With the Grizzlies, the solid point guard only averaged 20 points per game twice, but he was a very reliable shooter with an efficient teardrop at the rim. The second player is Marc Gasol, a dominant center who was most renowned for his defense. Marc, on the other hand, could score in the paint with his height and talent, and he enjoyed his greatest season with the Grizzlies in 2017, scoring a career-high 19.5 points per game.
Dwyane Wade has 21,556 points with the Miami Heat.
Alonzo Mourning (9,459 points) is in second position.
Dwyane Wade, dubbed “Mr. Miami Heat,” is the most unstoppable offensive player in Heat history. Wade could rip to the hoop and create his own shots from mid-range with ease. Wade, who was dubbed “Flash” early in his career, was a reliable scorer for Miami throughout his career. He has nearly 11k more points than Alonzo Mourning, a center who was a great defensive player who could also score in the paint, who is in second place. Wade is clearly one of the best five shooting guards of all time, and his scoring was the reason for that.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has 14,211 points with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo came in second. Points: 13,086
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spent the first six seasons of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, earning an NBA championship and being named to six All-Star teams, as well as winning three MVP awards. The big, known as Lou Alcindor, was unstoppable on offense throughout his Bucks career, averaging 30.4 points per game. Kareem would go on to win additional championships with the Lakers following his six seasons with the Bucks. Second place goes to Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will shortly become the Bucks’ all-time leading scorer. If he keeps winning championships, the two-time MVP will likely close his career as the best Bucks player ever, which would be incredible to see.
Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves Points: 19,201
Karl-Anthony Towns came in second. Points: 10,086
Kevin Garnett is the finest player the Timberwolves have ever had. The Big Ticket is most renowned for his defense and fierce competitiveness, since no other player in history has come close to matching him in those areas. KG is the all-time leader in points scored by a large margin because to his finesse scoring technique. Karl-Anthony Towns is the runner-up, with a tremendous three-point shooting and post-game, but he prefers to emphasize on the former in his game.

Patrick Ewing, one of the most influential centers of his era, averaged 22.8 points per game in 15 seasons with the New York Knicks. The 11-time All-Star had a great post-game and was not afraid to be aggressive, which is why he was such a powerful player during his time. It takes a lot of skill to score over 23,000 points, but Ewing was able to achieve it via his play. He has more than 9,000 points than Walt Frazier, a two-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer who spent his prime with the Knicks.
Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder Points: 18,859
Gary Payton came in second with 18,207 points.
It’s no wonder that Russell Westbrook, a two-time scoring champion, is ranked first since he was one of the most unstoppable guards in the league during his time with Oklahoma City. Westbrook was an all-time great scorer for the club, both with and without Kevin Durant. Russ averaged 31.6 points per game and 28.1 points per game in 11 seasons with the Thunder, winning two scoring championships. Kevin Durant won four scoring championships with the Thunder, but he was unable to overtake Gary Payton as the SuperSonics’ second-best player. The Glove played in 13 seasons compared to Durant’s nine, which explains why the point guard has almost 18k points.
Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic Points: 11,435
Nick Anderson came in second. Points: 10,650
Dwight Howard enjoyed a remarkable career with the Orlando Magic. Even though he never had a go-to move in the post, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year was a capable scorer. Howard was a fantastic offensive player as a rim runner, offensive rebounder, and lob target. That’s why, in his eight seasons with the Magic, the All-Star center averaged 18.4 points per game. Nick Anderson played for the Orlando Magic for ten seasons, averaging 15.4 points per game as a shooter (36.3 percent 3-point FG) with a short memory for failed attempts.
Hal Greer has 21,586 points with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Allen Iverson finished in second place with 19,931 points.
Allen Iverson isn’t the 76ers’ all-time leading scorer; that title belongs to Hall of Famer Hal Greer. Greer scored almost 21,000 points over his 15-year career with the team, averaging 19.2 points per game. Greer is obviously a name that appears as the top scorer in Syracuse Nationals/Philadelphia 76ers history, based on his extraordinary durability and consistency as an offensive threat. Iverson is ranked second because he scored over 19000 points and left a lasting impression on Philadelphia fans.
Walter Davis, Phoenix Suns Points: 15,666
Alvan Adams came in second. Points: 13,910
Neither Charles Barkley nor Steve Nash are among the top two scorers for the Phoenix Suns. Walter Davis, a 6-time All-Star and Rookie of the Year winner who began his career with a bang, is the highest scorer in Suns history. To begin his career, the 6’6″ shooting guard averaged 24.2 and 23.6 points per game, good figures for a young player. Alvan Adams, an All-Star level big player who spent 13 seasons with the team, sits in second place. Adams finished his career averaging 14.1 points per game, although he began off with two seasons averaging 19.0 and 18.0 points per game.
Clyde Drexler has 18,040 points with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Damian Lillard (17,460 points) is in second position.
Clyde Drexler, the legendary shooting guard, spent 12 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers, earning eight All-Star teams and cementing his status as one of the best 50 players in NBA history. Clyde Drexler would certainly be remembered as the most dominating off-guard in the game during his era if it weren’t for Michael Jordan. Drexler won’t remain the best Trail Blazers scorer for long, thanks to his nice personality and outstanding offensive skill. Damian Lillard is closing in on Drexler’s club scoring record, and he should overtake him by the conclusion of the season.
Oscar Robertson, Sacramento Kings Points: 22,009
Jack Twyman came in second. Points: 15,840
The Kings possessed a number of strong offensive players, but Oscar Robertson was by far the finest (with the Cincinnati Royals). The triple-double threat was a unique ability, and some consider him to be among the greatest 15 players of all time. Robertson had six seasons in which he averaged more than 30 points per game and another four seasons in which he averaged more than 24 points per game. The Big O was a once-in-a-lifetime talent who combined skill, athleticism, and elegance. Second is 6’6″ small forward Jack Twyman, who averaged 19.2 points per game with the Rochester Royals and Cincinnati Royals.
Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs Points: 26,496
George Gervin came in second with 23,602 points.
Is it surprising that Tim Duncan is ranked first? Over the course of his storied career, the greatest power forward of all time has amassed over 26k points, averaging over 20 points a game nine times. Tim Duncan spent his entire NBA career in San Antonio, winning five NBA championships and three Finals MVP awards while destroying defenses with his signature jumper off the backboard and low-post game. George Gervin, a four-time scoring champion and Hall of Fame forward, also played with the Spurs for 12 seasons, scoring over 23k points and tearing defenses.

Kyle Lowry (10,540 points) is in second position.
DeMar DeRozan is one of the finest scorers in Raptors history, but he is underappreciated since he was never able to lead the club to the Finals. But, based on his scoring record, DeMar was a true attacking force. Over the course of his nine seasons with the team, he averaged 19.7 points per game, with five seasons averaging more than 20 points per game. In 2017, he had his greatest season, averaging 27.3 points per game. Meanwhile, his closest buddy Kyle Lowry has over 10,000 points with the Raptors, with his finest season coming in 2017 when he averaged 22.4 points per game.
Karl Malone has 36,374 points with the Utah Jazz.
John Stockton came in second with 19,711 points.
Karl Malone, the all-time leading scorer in total points, is comfortably in first position. Donovan Mitchell, the team’s current star, is a tremendous scorer, but he’ll never be able to match The Mailman’s offensive prowess. Because of his scoring abilities, Karl Malone is recognized as one of the top-15 players of all time. John Stockton, the all-time assist leader, was the guy who handed him the ball practically every time. Stockton’s purpose as a pass-first player was to feed Stockton, yet he still scored over 19k points with the Utah Jazz.
Elvin Hayes has 15,551 points with the Washington Wizards.
Bradley Beal (13,955 points) is in second position.
Elvin Hayes was chosen to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team as one of the best big players of all time. With the Baltimore/Capital/Washington Bullets, the 12-time All-Star and Hall of Famer was unstoppable. With the Bullets, Hayes averaged 21.3 points per game and almost 12 rebounds per game. As good as Hayes was, current Wizards All-Star Bradley Beal has a chance to overtake him as the best player in the league. As long as Beal stays a Washington player for the remainder of the calendar year, he may be able to pass on Hayes.
