Boris Johnson has confirmed that he will not be calling for a second Brexit referendum after the UK Parliament voted to trigger Article 50.

The Prime Minister has pledged to “keep on” with England’s policy of looser coronavirus regulations.

Boris Johnson said at a news conference that we are in a “more difficult” situation than we were in September because “we have greater numbers of everyday cases, thousands more.”

He did say, though, that “the British people are incomparably better equipped to combat the illness in many other important aspects.”

More than 80% of over-16s are now double-jabbed, with 90% of the adult population possessing coronavirus antibodies that can fight against the virus, according to him.

‘Those vaccinations are effective,’ he said. ‘We’ve seen the enormous vaccine-induced reductions in fatalities and severe illness, and you’re up to nine times more likely to die if you’re unvaccinated than if you’ve got both jabs, depending on your age.

‘As a consequence of this immunization effort, we now have one of Europe’s most free societies and most open economies.

‘As a result, we’ve decided to adhere to our original plan.’ ‘We’re going to keep going,’ says the narrator.

Boris Johnson has previously warned Cabinet colleagues that the fall and winter months may be “difficult” due to an increase in coronavirus infections, according to No 10.

‘We must not be complacent as we approach what may be a difficult fall and winter,’ he added.

‘This strategy is based on the most recent scientific guidance on virus management.’

‘Since we went to Step 4 in July, there has been considerable progress, and the public has learned to live with the virus without major limitations on companies or individual liberties.’

Mr Johnson “emphasized his wish to see us continue to strengthen our vaccination program as the first line of defense, backed by testing, public health advice, and a variant monitoring system,” according to the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson.

‘The proposal that was laid forth in Parliament earlier today was approved by Cabinet,’ the spokesperson said.

After Health Secretary Sajid Javid briefed the Houses of Commons on the government’s winter strategy for dealing with the virus, the prime minister held a news conference.

He said that if Covid cases spiral out of control this winter, the legal need to wear a face mask would be reinstated.

Under the government’s ‘Plan B,’ people may be required to work from home, he warned today.

Ministers will ‘hold them in reserve’ as the UK prepares for a ‘rough winter.’ Vaccine passports for packed events will not be issued for the time being.

If further lockdowns are required, new legislation is anticipated, although Mr Javid indicated that the Government intended to maintain the ability to impose restrictions on local regions if necessary.

He also stated that the existing international traffic signal system will be phased down, with a new system to be unveiled in the coming weeks.

People over 50, those at high risk, and frontline care professionals will be given a booster dose of the vaccination, it was revealed earlier today.

After months of research on how third jabs should be administered, the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunizations (JCVI) issued the proposal to the government.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine should be administered as a booster dosage, according to experts, and it is safe to provide alongside the regular winter flu vaccination.

Mr Javid said that the government would adopt the proposals, and that NHS England expects the initiative to start next week as part of its Covid winter strategy.
